Choose the finish
A headboard is the one piece of furniture in a bedroom that everybody looks at, and the cheapest way to change how the whole room reads. At Tapicero Mallorca we build them from scratch to your measurements:
Plain
A clean padded panel, straight or with a shaped top edge. The most versatile and the most economical.
Buttoned (capitoné)
The classic diamond pattern with covered buttons. More work, more presence — the finish people picture when they think of an upholstered headboard.
Studded
A border of decorative nail heads around the perimeter, in brass or chrome. Works particularly well on velvet.
Wall-to-wall panels
Padded panels that run the full width of the wall behind the bed, beyond the mattress. Turns a plain bedroom wall into the feature of the room.
Furnishing a rental or several rooms?
Headboards are one of the quickest upgrades for a holiday rental or a small hotel: they photograph well, they cost a fraction of new bedroom furniture, and they make a room look considered rather than assembled. For multiple rooms we standardise the fixings and the fabric so the job is fast to install and easy to repeat later.

Recovering an old headboard
If you already have a headboard and it has simply gone tired — faded fabric, flat padding, a stain that will not come out — recovering it is cheaper than building a new one, and older frames are usually solid timber, better than what you would buy today. We strip it back, replace the foam if it has collapsed, and recover it in the fabric you pick.

Can you make a headboard for any bed size?
Yes. We make them to measure, so any width works — 90, 135, 150, 160, 180 cm or a non-standard size. Tell us the width of your bed and the height you want, and we build to those numbers rather than to a catalogue size.
What finishes can I choose?
Plain padded panels, buttoned capitoné, studded borders with brass or chrome nail heads, shaped top edges, and wall-to-wall padded panels that go beyond the width of the bed. You choose the fabric and the finish, and we show you samples before we cut anything.
Which fabric is best for a child's room or a holiday rental?
Stain-resistant fabric, without hesitation. It cleans with a damp cloth, which matters when the headboard is behind a child's bed or in an apartment that changes guests every week. For rentals we also lean towards mid-tone colours that do not show marks as quickly as very pale ones.
Do you also recover old headboards?
Yes. If the frame is sound, recovering an existing headboard is cheaper than building a new one and often gives a better result, because older frames tend to be solid timber. We strip it, replace the foam if it has gone flat, and recover it in your chosen fabric.
How does it get fixed to the wall?
Most headboards either hang on the wall or sit behind the bed on legs. We will tell you which suits your room and supply the fixings. If you are furnishing several rooms — a hotel or a rental property — we can standardise the mounting so installation is quick.
